Was Kane’s no-show at Tottenham training understandable?

When Harry Kane failed to show up for preseason training on August 2, many questioned his professionalism.

Kane believed he had a “gentlemen’s agreement” with President Daniel Levy allowing him to leave if Tottenham received a suitable offer. So, Kane’s absence from training has led some to believe the 28-year-old is trying to force a transfer away from north London.

The Tottenham striker later clarified that the plan was still to return later in the week, but will his no-show leave a bitter taste?

Why were Tottenham so reluctant to let Kane go?

In 2018, Harry Kane signed a six-year contract with Tottenham, committing him to the club until 2024. This kind of investment suggests that a decision was still going to be difficult three years later.

President Daniel Levy has always insisted that Kane is not for sale, but Manchester City have a serious interest in testing the club’s resolve. Unstoppable force, meet a still object.
