I just don’t understand the rationale for the Northern Ireland Protocol

I would be grateful if Europhiles could explain to me – in no more than one side of the A4 size – why we really need the Northern Ireland protocol.

I don’t see what a real job there is for revenue and customs officials – after all, there are no quotas to be counted or tariffs to be collected.

And as for the famous sandwich shop in Strabane which sells its products in Letterkenny and Ballybofey, if it uses the “wrong kind of cooked ham” for the tough European pallet, surely that should be the business of the county trade standards officials. . Donegal to address?
