Kazakh envoy visits the UP


LAHORE: Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin visited the University of Punjab on Thursday with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations between universities in the two countries.

UP vice-chancellor pro Professor Saleem Mazhar welcomed the delegation. The director of the Regional Integration Center (RIC) Dr Fauzia Hadi Ali and the deans of various faculties were also present on the occasion. Addressing the meeting, the Kazakh ambassador said Kazakhstan and Pakistan have historic ties and the two countries are culturally linked. He said Kazakhstan wanted to promote economic and trade ties with Pakistan. Pakistani youth are one of its greatest resources and could play an important role in national development, he added. Senator Dr Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur believed that we must work with honesty to move the country forward. Prof. Saleem Mazhar said PU will launch joint research projects and teacher and student exchange programs in collaboration with universities in Kazakhstan. Later, Mr. Kistafin spoke at a seminar at Al Raazi Hall and highlighted the main features of the economy and culture of Kazakhstan.
